This typical weekend dive trip begins with a
five to six hour (depending on how fast you are) drive from home to
Panama City Beach and checking in at the La Quinta Inn & Suites on
Thomas Drive.
Early Saturday morning, after a continental
breakfast (included in the trip cost) you will meet up with the rest
of the dive group around 7:30 am CENTRAL TIME and caravan to Vortex
Springs for the first two dives of the weekend.
Vortex Springs is a fresh water spring with a
water temperature constant year
round at 68 – 72 degrees. To keep you warm and toasty, a 3mm wet
suit is perfect
for most.
You might see freshwater eels, large
Chinese Carp and Bream, so don’t
forget your fish food.
For
the Open Water students, this is a great site to knock
out part of the equired skills.
For Advanced students, Vortex Springs
is a great
opportunity for the Navigation dive, Search and Recovery or Peak
Performance Buoyancy.
With advanced notice a night dive can
even be arranged.
It’s only a short boat ride out into the Gulf
to sites like the Bridge Span, the Strength, LOSS Pontoon or the
Black Bart.
You may see large schools of bait fish,
Goliath Grouper, Amberjack or Atlantic Spadefish. Following
two ocean dives, we will return to the dock by 11:00 am.
After a quick bite of lunch, it’s time
to depart the fun & sun and return home.
This is a great trip to gain experience on.
With both freshwater and saltwater
dives, and both shore entry and boat dives, you’re sure to learn a
lot.
Not the
best trip for snorkelers, or young (10 & 11 year olds) divers due to
the depth restrictions and limited visibility.
Sunday morning, rise and shine, bright & early
one more time.
After your continental breakfast , we
will meet at the Panama City Dive Center at 6:30 am CENTRAL TIME to
catch the 7:00 am dive boat.
Saturday afternoon, you’ll have the
opportunity to take in the sights of Panama City Beach, or if you
are a certified diver, you can continue to stay and play at Vortex
Springs and log additional dives.
Dinner tonight is on your own, but the
staff has their favorite restaurants if you need a recommendation.
